about
eptember 2006 at the Paulus Church in Dortmund, Germany.
Johann Sebastian Bach and Olivier Messiaen meet in the forest. Together, they create a composition for eagle songs, viola and voice. An improvisation / comprovisation in real time, at the equinoctical point. Performed by Anke Ames.
The performance circles around a determining structure, the Sonata1 for violin solo by Bach, and free improvisation: authentical, naked and aware. So the performance is an ode to life, the decline and recurrance of light into our part of the planet. My comprovisation should be a gift for a new respect for nature, which is inevitable for our earth.
Birds, which can be admired at the same time and the same place every year do not even look beautiful. They impress us, because we can meet them only a short time. They remind us of the cycle of life, which renews itself constantly.
We let the eagles speak themselves and don`t write their songs into a score, like Messiaen did. The various possibilities of the viola communicate, melt, border.
